The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in applying for financial aid. Completing the FAFSA helps determine your eligibility for federal, state and institutional financial aid.

If you’re a first-year student planning to attend Viterbo, you can receive a $1,000 Viterbo FAFSA First Grant toward your Viterbo education.

To qualify, you must:

  • Be admitted to Viterbo University by January 1, 2027

  • Have your 2027–28 FAFSA on file with Viterbo by January 1, 2027

Before you complete the FAFSA

You’ll need a StudentAid.gov account to access and complete the FAFSA. If you’re a dependent undergraduate student, your parent or other required contributor may also need their own StudentAid.gov account.

Each person must create and use their own account. Do not share your StudentAid.gov username or password with anyone.

Understanding Your Financial Aid

After you complete the FAFSA, Viterbo will use the information we receive to help determine your eligibility for financial aid. Your Student Aid Index (SAI) is one factor used in determining eligibility for need-based federal and institutional financial aid.

Completing the FAFSA does not guarantee that you will receive financial aid, but it is an important step in understanding your options for paying for college.
